Experts from the Military Medical Academy, Prof. Dr. Nada Kuljić-Kapulica, the head of the Microbiology Institute and Dr. Vesna Novaković from the Gynecology Department took an active part in the Workshop. Prof. Dr. Nada Kuljić-Kapulica gave a lecture on human papilloma virus (HPV) and its detection and diagnosis.
The Military Medical Academy was the first in our country to introduce in situ cross-breeding for HPV into its routine diagnostic practice in 1991, and remained for a long time the only institution in the country applying that kind of diagnostic procedure.
Human papilloma virus belongs to a group of tumor viruses and is the significant cause of cervical cancer in women and other malignant tumors in humans.
